Garda Vetting service for organisations

Limerick Volunteer Centre offers access to Garda Vetting services for organisations who do not have access to Garda Vetting through other agencies.

Garda vetting is the process by which the Central Garda Vetting Unit (CGVU) discloses details regarding all prosecutions and/or convictions in respect of an individual. The CGVU is the unit within the Garda Síochána responsible for conducting Garda Vetting. Garda Vetting is not conducted by Gardaí at a local level. Limerick Volunteer Centre offers a way for organisations who are not registered with the CGVU to access their services.

There is a fee of €15 per Garda Vetting form processed to cover administration costs, however it is the policy of Limerick Volunteer Centre that no organisation should be prevented from accessing Garda Vetting services due to a lack of funds.

Each organisation who wishes to avail of the service must nominate a Garda Vetting Officer to undergo training before any forms will be processed.  The purpose of this training is to help organisations understand the Garda Vetting process, and to help the organisation to prepare what to do if any disclosures of criminal convictions are received.

To register for the Garda Vetting service, contact the Co-ordinator of Limerick Volunteer Centre Paul Moriarty on 085 7103557 or email paul@volunteerlimerick.ie
